CUSTOM DOMAIN SETUP - www.mtjdataanalytics.com

STEP 1: Add Domain in Netlify

  1. Go to your site in Netlify Dashboard
    • https://app.netlify.com/sites/lively-salamander-ef63f0
  2. Add custom domain:
    • Click “Domain settings” (or “Site settings” → “Domain management”)
    • Click “Add custom domain”
    • Enter: www.mtjdataanalytics.com
    • Click “Verify”
    • Click “Add domain”
  3. Also add apex domain:
    • Click “Add custom domain” again
    • Enter: mtjdataanalytics.com (without www)
    • Click “Verify”
    • Click “Add domain”

STEP 2: Update DNS at Your Domain Provider

Where you bought your domain (e.g., Namecheap, GoDaddy, Whogohost, etc.)

Add These DNS Records:

Record 1 - CNAME for www:

Type: CNAME
Name: www
Value: lively-salamander-ef63f0.netlify.app
TTL: Automatic or 3600

Record 2 - A Record for apex (@):

Type: A
Name: @ (or leave blank)
Value: 75.2.60.5
TTL: Automatic or 3600

Record 3 - Another A Record (recommended):

Type: A
Name: @ (or leave blank)
Value: 99.83.190.102
TTL: Automatic or 3600

DNS Provider Examples:

Namecheap: 1. Login → Domain List → Manage 2. Advanced DNS tab 3. Add New Record → Select type → Add values

GoDaddy: 1. Login → My Products → DNS 2. Add → Select type → Enter values

Whogohost (Nigeria): 1. Login → Domains → Manage DNS 2. Add Record → Enter values

STEP 3: Wait for DNS Propagation

  • Time: 24-48 hours (usually faster, often 1-4 hours)
  • Check status: https://dnschecker.org

Enter your domain and check if it’s propagated globally.

STEP 4: Enable HTTPS in Netlify

  1. After DNS propagates:

    • Go to Netlify → Domain settings
    • Scroll to “HTTPS”
    • Click “Verify DNS configuration”
    • Click “Provision certificate”

  2. Wait 1-2 minutes for SSL certificate to activate

  3. Enable “Force HTTPS” (redirects http to https)

STEP 5: Test Your Domain

Visit these URLs: - http://www.mtjdataanalytics.com (should work) - https://www.mtjdataanalytics.com (should work with HTTPS) - http://mtjdataanalytics.com (should redirect to www) - https://mtjdataanalytics.com (should redirect to www)

Troubleshooting

“Domain not found” or 404 error

  • Wait: DNS hasn’t propagated yet (24-48 hours)
  • Check: DNS records are correct
  • Verify: Using dnschecker.org

“Not secure” warning

  • Wait: SSL certificate is provisioning (1-2 mins)
  • Check: HTTPS is enabled in Netlify settings
  • Force HTTPS: Enable in Domain settings

Still shows netlify.app URL

  • Clear cache: Hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R)
  • Clear browser: Clear browser cache and cookies
  • Wait: DNS propagation still in progress

Quick Summary
