Before Deploying to Netlify

Use this checklist to make sure everything is ready before you deploy your website.

📋 TECHNICAL CHECKLIST

Software Requirements

• Quarto is installed on your computer
  • Test: Open terminal and type quarto --version
  • If not installed: Download from https://quarto.org
• You can access terminal/command prompt
  • Windows: Search for “cmd” or “PowerShell”
  • Mac: Search for “Terminal”
  • Linux: You know where it is 😊
• All website files are in one folder
  • All .qmd files present
  • _quarto.yml present
  • styles.css present
  • custom.scss present
  • netlify.toml present

Build Test

• Run quarto render successfully
• docs/ folder is created
• docs/ folder contains .html files
• No error messages during build
• Preview works: quarto preview

• No “Lorem ipsum” or placeholder text
• No broken internal links
• No “TODO” or “FIXME” notes
• Spelling and grammar checked
• Professional tone throughout

🎨 DESIGN CHECKLIST

Branding

• Logo file added as logo.png (if you have one)
  • Or: Okay with text logo for now
• Brand colors are correct
  • Primary blue: #0047AB
  • Matches your brand
• Company name spelled correctly everywhere
  • “MTJ Data Analytics” (not “MTJ DataAnalytics” or other variations)

Visual Check

• Preview the site locally first
• All pages load correctly
• Navigation menu works
• Footer displays properly
• No missing images
• Colors look professional

🌐 NETLIFY PREPARATION

Account Setup

• Have an email address for Netlify account
• Decide on site name (e.g., mtjdataanalytics)
  • Or: Will use random name and change later

Deployment Method Decision

• Decided on deployment method:
  • Drag & Drop (fastest, manual updates)
  • GitHub + Netlify (automatic updates)
• If using GitHub:
  • Have GitHub account or will create one
  • Understand basic git commands
  • Or: Will use GitHub web interface

Domain (Optional)

• Decided if using custom domain
  • Yes: Have domain name ready
  • Yes: Know where domain is registered
  • No: Will use .netlify.app subdomain for now

🧪 TESTING CHECKLIST

Local Testing

Before deploying, test locally with quarto preview:

• Home page loads and looks good

• Services page displays all services

• Pricing page shows all prices correctly

• Webinars page shows upcoming events

• About page displays company information

• Contact page shows all contact methods

• Navigation works (can click between pages)

• Footer appears on all pages

• WhatsApp links open WhatsApp/redirect correctly

• Social media icons/links work

• Mobile preview looks good (resize browser)

Link Testing

• All internal links work (between pages)
• All external links work (social media, WhatsApp)
• Email links open email client
• Phone links work on mobile

📱 POST-DEPLOYMENT CHECKLIST

After deploying to Netlify, test:

• Site loads at the Netlify URL
• All pages accessible
• Links work on live site
• WhatsApp buttons work
• Social media links work
• Site works on mobile phone
• Site works on tablet
• Site works in different browsers:
  • Chrome
  • Firefox
    
  • Safari (if on Mac)
  • Edge
• HTTPS is enabled (padlock in browser)
• Site loads quickly
• No console errors (F12 → Console tab)

Performance Check

• Test on Google PageSpeed Insights
  • Go to: https://pagespeed.web.dev/
  • Enter your Netlify URL
  • Aim for 80+ score
• Test on mobile device
  • Open on your phone
  • Check all pages
  • Test all links

🎯 FINAL CHECKLIST

Before announcing your website:

• Everything above is checked ✅
• Site has been tested thoroughly
• You’re happy with how it looks
• Contact information verified one last time
• A colleague/friend has reviewed it
• You have the Netlify URL bookmarked
• You’ve saved the Netlify login information

If you’ve checked everything above:

1. Open terminal in your website folder
2. Run: quarto render
3. Go to: https://app.netlify.com/drop
4. Drag the docs/ folder
5. 🎉 Your website is live!
